Negentropy
It is real and not too many people know about it. No science book even defines it.
Heat moves from hotter surface to colder surface. When this movement occurs is when you experience time. If an object is moving against no background at a constant speed you would not be able to perceive motion or the passage of time. If it slows, you can perceive both time and motion. For it to slow down, friction needs to act on it and heat needs to be exchanged.
Everything gets hotter and hotter and moves towards disorder. This is what is referred to as Entropy.
I read a book last year called How to Astronaut by Terry Virts. In the book, he argued that entropy was the greatest proof of a creator.
You cannot hurl a lot of garbage in a room, leave it there to come back a few days later to find a car or something else for that matter.
Any system is going to move from order to disorder, not the other way around. Therefore life has to have a creator.
But…
In the 1950s a man by the name of Erwin Rudolph Joseph Alexander Schrodinger who is best known for his cat; wrote a book. The Nobel Prize-winning, father of quantum physics wrote a book called ‘What is life?’
In that book, he introduced a new term; Negentropy or Neg-Entropy. Entropy is universal and it is true that all systems in the universe go from a state of order to disorder, except there is a loop-hole. That loophole is life.
If Entropy was the only way to go, life would have never evolved. Everything in the universe would have been reduced to hydrogen and no complex molecule would have ever formed.
Life organises, in fact, it reduces entropy within its system to create order. That is how you and I exist. The other side of the loophole is, that you end up putting more entropy out into the system in order reduce the entropy within. We create shit, garbage, CO2 and a whole bunch of other things in order to ensure that we are forming a coherent whole and not disintegrating.
The insane rise in human population over the last 120 years has meant that the amount of entropy that we are introducing into the world is far greater than the world can accommodate. This lack of balance is creating the environmental challenges that we are being forced to endure.
Any system will eventually seek to balance the imbalance. For more and more people to survive we need to keep lowering the entropy in the system. But Entropy in any system either rises or remains constant.
The existence of Life is a loophole we cannot take for granted.
